Can you eat apples, bananas and pickles after RNY?

Where do you get the FAAG Yogurt everone is talking about? I bought lite and fit yogurt for when I can eat that sort of thing.

Eventually you'll be able to eat all that, but not all of it now.

Do NOT eat apples, the skin on them can get stuck since its hard to chew very well.  Bananas are ok - but mush them up (or chew very very well)  Pickles may be too hard for you to stomach right now, but you can later.  Their acidity may be too much, as well as the hardness of the pickle in itself.  I eat SF sweet pickles all the time now.

I can't find the FAGE yogurt where I'm at either.  I ate yogurts that had NO fruits in them for after surgery.  You don't want anything solid when you're on pureed that can get caught.  Vanilla, plain and key lime were the 3 I ate the most.

Any Greek Yogurt will be good, I can get Fage at Trader Joes, Some folks say they can find it at there Costco but I can't.   I can get OIKOS Greek Yogurt at BiLow (grocery store in NC) if you don't have them.  Try asking your stores if they sell Greek Yogurt that would be better thank asking for a name brand)  I know Walmart has a brand of Greek Yogurt but it is not plain it has fruit with sugar which I hear might cause dumping.

Did you get a list of foods you could have at different stages of your recovery?  If not ask your NUT if they have a list mine does.

Later is better for the apples, pickles, etc. I think 5-6 months out will be a safe bet. Everybody is different though. The yogurt is a very safe bet. Fage is found at TJs, Costco and some health food type places. I heard they sell Greek yogurt at Walmarts. I do not know about that as I rarely am in one. Good luck on your journey.

They do sell Greek yogurt at Walmart but it has fruit and sugar so probably not the best choice.  Or at least the ones in my area only have the fruit flavors.  If never hurts to try them in your area.

My walmart has plain oikos but it is ridiculously expensive.  Trader Joes has FAGE but it costs 4.39 at mine while their brand is 2.99, why would you buy FAGE?

Trader Joes has trader joes brand yogurt which is better than FAGE in taste in my opinion and they have both a NF and full fat version, so if you ever needed to add calories after reaching goal, the regular is a healthy way to "add" calories.

THe nonfat greek yogurt is only 80 calories for a cup and 22G of protein, it is my go-to source for breakfast and snacks to get my protein in.

I have the band, I can eat all of those, just carefully and not too early in the a.m.  We are tight in the mornings in general.........and people eat too large a bite of bananas and it gets "stuck".

I live in redneckville so I have to drive 45 minutes to a Whole Foods to get greek yogurt. No Trader Joes for 300 miles and I don't live in a little town. The trip to whole foods is worth it. You might also check out health food type stores.

I'm coming up on 15 yrs and I STILL cut up apples. I peel, slice and put into a ziploc. Unless it's a teeny apple, I issue myself half or so.

I CAN eat a whole banana, but that's a load of sugar (appx 18g), so I split it with dh (also RNY).

Pickles. Yum. But if the skin is...... saggy? not crisp, I don't eat them. If they are crisp, no big deal. Prefer the baby dills because I'm not tempted to eat the battleship sized ones that way.

Can't answer the yogurt. I do the light 'n fit, but in the 6 packs. I can certainly eat the individual size, but I avoid that much sugar.
